D Student

• Scientific Area: Environmental Sciences
  
• Admission requirements:
  Bachelor's degree in the areas of Environmental Sciences and Geography, Master's degree in the area of Conservation. At least 6 months of research experience.
  
• Additional optional skills and qualifications: Previous experience on research related to carnivore’s ecology and their coexistence with humans
  
• Contracting requirements: Presentation of the academic qualifications and/or diplomas, if applicable. Enrolment in
  Ph
  D in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution
  
• Work plan: The fellowship holder will focus on developing and applying innovative ecological modelling approaches to improve predictions of species distributions under global change. The fellowship holder will collect and curate ecological and environmental data, apply a new methodological framework that integrates both abiotic and biotic interactions into species distribution models, and test its performance through model validation and field assessments. In the final stage, the fellowship holder will apply this approach to real conservation and management challenges, ensuring that the results are scientifically robust and practically useful. Overall, the fellowship holder will advance ecological modelling, deliver accessible tools for researchers and practitioners, and contribute directly to biodiversity conservation and
  - making in the context of global environmental change especially in the context of carnivore communities in the Iberian Peninsula.
  
• Place of work: The work will be developed at thec
  E3c – Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes , Faculty of Science, University of Lisbon , under the scientific supervision of Professor Alejandra Zarzo Arias (supervisor) and Luis Miguel Rosalino (co-supervisor).
  
• Fellowship duration: This position is initially opened for3 months due to start in
  November 2025. The fellowship contract may be potentially renewed for until the end of the project, in accordance with the provisions of Regulation of Research Fellowships from the Foundation for Science and Technology, I. P and FCiências. ID Fellowship Regulation.
  
• Monthly allowance: The fellowship amounts to €1309, 64, according to table values of the
  FCiências. ID Fellowship Regulation. The fellowship holder will have a personal accident insurance and can ensure the right to social security through adherence to the voluntary social insurance scheme, if not covered by any other social protection scheme, pursuant to C ódigo dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Segurança Social.
  The fellowship will be paid monthly by bank transfer.
  
• Evaluation and selection process: Candidates will be assessed by
  CV (80%), motivation letter (20%).
  Applicants whose application is scored with a final classification of less than 80 points are not eligible for granting a fellowship.

• Time limits for the appeal procedure: In case of negative decision, the candidates have 10 business days, after the date of announcement of the results of the candidates evaluation, to pronounce their disagreement in accordance with the Código do Procedimento Administrativo . Appeals against the final decision may be submitted to the Administration Board of FCiências. ID ( fciencias. id@fciencias-id. pt ) within 15 business days after the notification date.

Note 1: The documents that prove the entitlement of the academic qualifications and diplomas can be dismissed during the application period and replaced by a declaration on their honour from the applicant ( Minuta PT , Minute EN ). Their delivery is mandatory for the fellowship contractualization.
