Offer Description

Work Plan: The objective of the work is the production, extraction and characterization of microbial biopolymers.

Fellowship duration: The fellowship will last for 3 months, starting in October 2025. The fellowship contract may eventually be renewed within the term of the project.

Application deadline and form of application submission: The call is open from the 1st to the 14th of August 2025.

- official document may be presented, which in case of selection will be replaced by the official document).

In case of foreign academic degrees, and to guarantee the application of the principle of equal treatment to applicants with national and foreign academic degrees, it is mandatory to submit the recognition of such degrees and the conversion of the respective final grade to the Portuguese grading scale.

Documentation to be provided upon contracting: Proof of academic degrees or their equivalence when awarded by foreign higher education institutions.

Proven experience of: microbiology; operation of bioreactors for the production of microbial biopolymers; separation processes applied to the extraction of microbial biopolymers; and physical, chemical and functional characterization of biopolymers.

Additional Information

Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to € 1851, having as reference the table of values of the scholarships awarded directly by FCT, I. P. in Portugal, with payment made monthly by bank transfer.

Selection process

Selection criteria: The selection methods to be used and the respective weighting will be as follows: 1st Phase

a. Curricular assessment (grade from 1 to 20) weighting 50%;

b. Experience in the research area (score from 1 to 20) weighting 50%.

The three
- ranked candidates will go through the selection interview phase and the selection methods will change to the following:

a. Curricular assessment and experience in the research area (score from 1 to 20) weighting 50%;

b. Interview (score from 1 to 20) weighting 50%.

All applications will be evaluated on a scale from 0 to 20 values.

Candidates who do not obtain a minimum grade of 15, as a result of the jury's evaluation according to the selection criteria, will not be hired.

Additional comments

Form of advertising/notification of results: The evaluation results proposed by the juri will be notified, up to 90 days after the deadline for the submission of applications, by email, of the results proposed by the jury, with access to the minutes and the final ranking list.

After notification, candidates will have 10 working days to comment on the draft decision (prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure). The final decision will be taken after the expiry of the prior hearing period, again notified to all candidates by
- mail. Of this final decision the candidates can file a complaint within 15 working days (to the
- mail address used for the notification), or an hierarchical appeal, within 30 working days, addressed to NOVA. ID. FCT's Board through the address coord1@novaidfct. pt.

In the notification of the candidates, a reserve list is sent according to the final ranking list, which may be used in case of withdrawal of the candidate ranked first, reserving to NOVA. id. FCT the right to call the next candidate from the reserve list, and so on, until the vacancy is filled.
