The Role

If you thrive in a challenging and

This role will report to the Finance Director and is responsible for a wide range of activities across accounting, tax compliance, audit support, and internal controls. As a Certified Accounting & Tax Specialist, you will be responsible for all tax declarations and compliance with Portuguese Tax Authorities, as well as providing tax advice to the company. You will need to ensure that accounting records are produced accurately in line with normative requirements and best practices.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Accountable for the further development of an effective financial accounting function. This ensures the accurate and timely capture and processing of financial transactions and the application of International Financial Reporting Standards and best practice to Portugal’s accounting;

• Manage a team of accounts payables;

• Ensure the smooth running of the accounts payable;

• Oversee the organisation’s cash forecasting and treasury function;

• Ensure regular intercompany operations are identified for consolidation processes;

• Guarantee revenue accounting is performed timely and efficiently;

• Provide Balance Sheet reconciliations and valuable regular critical reviews of the P&L;

• Ensure the annual external audit and any internal functional audits.

• Perform
  - end activities producing accurate statutory reports;

• Help with tax advisory on the efficient delivery of the monthly payroll, including accounting payroll;

• Guarantee compliance with tax legislation and corporate benefits delivering all the needed documentation;

• Liaise with Tax Authorities for any required interaction;

• Ensure compliance with internal guidelines and procedures, keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and tax legislation;

• Look for tax opportunities, benefits and understand where the company can benefit. If needed, prepare information with legal supports;

• Work with the team to continually develop, implement, embed and document robust finance controls, processes and procedures: ensure that the organisation operates within these;

• Liaise with auditors and tax advisors;

• Produce relevant ad hoc analysis, as and when required;

• Act as Certified Accountant;

• Ensure tax filings (IRS, IRC, VAT, Modelo 30, IES, etc. ) are accurate and submitted on time;

• Prepare statutory reporting and ensure alignment with IFRS and GAAP.

• Ensure payroll expenses and benefits are managed in accordance with legal and tax requirements;

• Improve internal control procedures in areas like reconciliation and closing;

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in tax, accounting, or finance;

• Professional qualification/ certification for the role (Certified Accountant with Ordem dos Contabilistas Certificados);

• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in Accounting and Tax;

• Experience managing teams;

• Experience in working with multiple entities and Portuguese Tax Authorities;

• Strong communication skills; English is mandatory;

• MS Excel skills are required;

• Fluency in English.
