Accounting Manager
Our client, an international group in the hospitality sector, is currently recruiting an Accounting Manager to join its Finance team in Lisbon.
This role has as its main mission the oversight of the Group’s financial and accounting operations, ensuring compliance with IFRS, Portuguese GAAP (SNC), tax regulations, and USALI (Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry). The position will also be strongly focused on process analysis, efficiency, and the continuous improvement of workflows, ensuring that financial operations are accurate, timely, and aligned with the Group’s strategic objectives.
About the role:
- Oversee

- day accounting operations across group companies, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and treasury. - Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS, USALI, and Group reporting requirements, covering accruals and deferrals, intragroup transactions/balances, and capex.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of all tax obligations (VAT, CIT, PIT, Social Security, etc. ) and act as liaison with auditors, consultants, and tax authorities.
- Propose and implement initiatives in digital transformation and process automation, ensuring effective use of ERP and management systems.
- Analyse financial processes and workflows, identifying inefficiencies and implementing improvements to enhance productivity and accuracy.
- Develop and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) to harmonize accounting practices across the Group.
- Strengthen internal controls, risk management, and compliance procedures.
- Collaborate with operational departments to align financial practices across the Group’s operations.
- Supervise, coach, and develop the accounting team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
What are we looking for:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Certified Accountant qualification is a plus).
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance; experience in the hospitality or tourism sector preferred.
- Strong expertise in process reengineering, workflow optimization, and internal control improvements.
- Excellent knowledge of SNC (Portuguese GAAP), Portuguese tax system, and IFRS. Experience with USALI standards will be considered an advantage.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and hotel management tools (e. g. Primavera).
- Strong analytical and
- solving skills, with proven ability to drive process improvements. - Effective leadership and communication skills, with experience in team management.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English.
