Actuarial Analyst – German Speaker
Mercer is looking for a talented Actuarial Analyst to join its Actuarial Valuations team in Lisbon. The position is hybrid, requiring a presence in the office at least three days a week.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team supporting consultants and clients in pensions accounting and actuarial work.
- Request, gather, review and upload client data, and assist in the preparation of actuarial valuations, participant statements and/or client listings.
- Reconcile data and assets from previous valuations and prepare summaries of data, assets, and benefits defined in the plan documentation.
- Perform required financial analyses using proprietary and vended software.
- Calculate and analyze special retirement projects.
- Produce reports.
- Support the client team on project management, client contact, problem resolution and supervision of analysts’ work.
- Act as a key point of contact for technical and scheme‑specific queries received from clients, third parties and other Mercer businesses.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and to the high standards required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, economics, finance or a related field.
- Excellent written and spoken German and English communication skills (French language knowledge is also valuable).
- Attention to detail is critical.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to clearly articulate complex issues.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills to prioritize and manage a wide variety of ongoing tasks.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel, Word and Power
Point.
