Role: Applied Scientist – Early-Stage Startup | EU-Funded R&D Project (PT2030)

We’re a biotech company and we are seeking a dynamic and motivated Applied Scientist to join an early-stage startup implementing an EU-funded R&D project under Portugal 2030 (PT2030) which consists in translating research into scalable,
- world applications in regenerative medicine.

Location: (Porto / In-person)

⏳ Contract: 24 months
- term contract (project-based)

Scope of the role

The Applied Scientist will be responsible for process scale up and in vivo validation in a rat model, supporting the objectives of the funded project in advancing intervertebral disc regeneration and the treatment of low back pain.

Key responsibilities

-       Conduct process
- up
to develop reproducible workflows suitable for pilot or production stages.

-       Design and execute in vivo rodent validation experiments according to approved protocols.

-       Develop, optimize, and document laboratory protocols and workflows.

-       Analyze experimental data and prepare reports to support project objectives.

-       Collaborate with
- functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and other scientists.

-       Contribute to regulatory or intellectual property documentation as required by project guidelines.

Requirements

  • Ph
    D in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering or related fields
  • Immediate availability


Nice to have

-       Demonstrated experience in process development,
- up, or translational research
.

-       Experience with in vivo experimental design and execution .

-       Strong laboratory skills and familiarity with decellularization techniques.

-       Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a structured,
- driven environment.

-       Excellent analytical and documentation skills.
