Architecture & Performance Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Architecture & Performance Engineer to join our team in Lisbon. In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing the performance, scalability, and reliability of our database systems. You will work closely with development teams, system administrators, and business stakeholders to ensure our databases operate at peak efficiency, particularly in demanding environments like the financial sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze, monitor, and optimize the performance of SQL Server databases and other database systems.
• Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks, ensuring optimal query execution and resource usage.
• Develop and implement strategies for database tuning, including indexing, query optimization, and resource allocation.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient database design and integration with applications.
• Perform database performance testing, profiling, and capacity planning to support high availability and scalability.
• Monitor database performance metrics, set up alerts, and implement performance improvements as needed.
• Troubleshoot
  - related issues and provide detailed recommendations for resolution.
• Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and system availability.
• Ensure databases adhere to security standards and compliance regulations.

Qualifications:

• Experience working with SQL Server or other relational databases in a performance optimization role.
• Understanding T‑SQL query optimization, indexing strategies, and database tuning techniques.
• Experience with database profiling tools (e. g. , SQL Profiler, Query Store) and performance monitoring systems.
• Knowledge of database architecture, data storage, and resource management.
• Familiarity with database replication, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Experience working with
  - scale databases and high‑transaction environments, ideally in the financial sector.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data and systems.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in SQL Server Reporting, Analysis and Integration Services, Visual Studio and Power Designer.
• Knowledge in object‑oriented programming is valued (C# or Java)

Education & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Good communication skills to interact with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Proactive and Resilient
• Fluent Portuguese and good level of English
