Job Description
Position summary
As an Associate Design Researcher, your mission is to plan, coordinate, conduct, and analyze qualitative and quantitative user research studies, as well as to present findings to various audiences and ensure contributions are incorporated into design decisions.
You’ll have the opportunity not just to build real project experience as a UX Researcher, but also to learn about how software products are built in an agile environment. You’ll gain exposure to a wide variety of research methods and help craft
- based suggestions with stakeholders.
You should have a strong interest in research, psychology, and design, and enjoy interacting with users.
Team context
You'll be on a team of designers, researchers, and content strategists.
You'll report to a UX Manager.
You’ll work very closely with the Senior Researcher in the UX Department (which, along with Product Management and Engineering, compose Buildium’s Product Delivery organization).
You will provide research support for a strategic theme, as well as contribute to annual UX Team initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Recruit for your own projects and help others on the UX team recruit (creating screener questions, emailing prospective participants, scheduling participants) participants for research projects
- Lead in the execution of research methodologies (moderating, research calls, taking notes, etc. )
- Identify appropriate moderated or unmoderated research methods based on project needs
- Collaborate to translate research findings into actionable takeaways
- Participate in and/or lead collaborative heuristic evaluations
- Assist in creating and managing research operations processes
- Advocate for users while understanding the business goals of the stakeholders and management
- Help others on the team grow their research skills set

- Learning how to communicate, present, and share work in progress in 1:1s and Design Critiques by framing problems, pros & cons, and questions.
- Proactively collaborating and soliciting feedback with the intention of learning and improving.
- Regularly reporting progress to your UX Manager.
- Beginning to develop a UX network both within and outside of Buildium.
- Advocating for UX Research, showing its impact and providing research support tasks quickly and well to earn trust and confidence of stakeholders.

- With coaching from your UX Manager, collaborating with teams to articulate and align on problem statements based on research.
- Gaining awareness of design thinking.
- Collaborating with teams to articulate and align on research plans.
- Preliminary understanding of research methodologies.
- Assisting in recruiting and scheduling efforts.
- Moderating research sessions.
- Analyzing data and developing recommendations.
- Learning how to set and meet monthly, weekly and daily goals.
- Understanding KPIs for each of your projects and ensuring that they measure the problem/solution.
- Work with others to achieve
- notch results. - Knowing and prioritizing what’s most important while managing your time efficiently.
Contribute to Buildium’s product delivery strategy by leading product research on a strategic area, delivering research outcomes ahead of the planned design and implementation dates for the team’s roadmap projects.
In parallel to the scrum work, use a portion of your time to contribute to expand and grow our UX Initiatives, focused on UX process and operational improvements, our Design System, or global product innovation.
Qualifications
- Fluency in English with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Previous experience in a job, internship, or course displaying UX research and/or Design Thinking knowledge.
- Fluency in UX research and testing methodologies.
- College degree in psychology, human computer interaction, user experience, or similar.
- Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodology.
- Experience in the small and medium sized business (SMB) market and/or B2B products.
