Automation Engineer (Control & Drives)
Job Description
This position, located in Lousado (Portugal), is a replacement role within our local Manufacturing Technology Engineering Department.
The main purpose of this position is to develop competencies and resources to enhance knowledge in Controls & Drives (C&D), robotization/digitalization, and to support equipment/technology development at Continental converters plants. Additionally, it involves ensuring cybersecurity measures to mitigate machine breakdown risks at the shopfloor level.
Main activities include:
- Updating IPCs on machines with the latest software versions and requirements set by central IT;
- Performing backups, upgrades, and modifications on production equipment;
- Contributing to the cybersecurity of the shopfloor;
- Participating in projects beyond automation;
- Monitoring automation/robotization projects and performing interventions to maintain operation;
- Adapting equipment and systems for integration into digitalization processes.

Qualifications
- University Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field;
- At least 1 year of experience in an industrial environment in Controls & Drives (preferably);
- Knowledge of automation programming (Omron / Siemens), fieldbus, PLC programming, and Safety PLC programming;
- Experience with SCADA systems;
- Familiarity with frequency converters and motion control;
- Technical knowledge of Controls & Drives and industrial systems;
- Knowledge of Software Networks & IT Systems is a plus;
- Strong
- solving, planning, and organizational skills; - Good communication and teamwork abilities;
- Proactive and
- taking attitude; - Resilience and enthusiasm for working in multidisciplinary teams;
- Fluent English language skills.
