We are now seeking a Backend Developer Team Leader to join our engineering team. In this role, you will play a critical part in building the backbone of our sportsbook systems, ensuring reliable performance,
- time data processing, and secure transactions. From odds to payment integrations, you will lead a team that guarantees our backend services are robust, scalable, and compliant. This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager and collaborates with frontend, mobile, and infrastructure teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a backend development team.
• Set clear team goals, delegate tasks, and manage commitments for each sprint.
• Create an inspiring team environment with open communication and
  - sharing.
• Motivate team members, discover training needs, and provide coaching.
• Technical Excellence: provide technical guidance and architectural insight to peers and colleagues.
• Participate in designing and implementing backend architectures and services.
• Ensure seamless integration of software with monitoring, logging, and support tools.
• Review and provide constructive feedback on code to maintain high quality.
• Guarantee the team’s approach to testing is robust and fit for purpose.
• Ensure technical product documentation is complete, accurate, and coherent.
• Lead development of new features and modules, while maintaining existing systems.
• Stay up to date with emerging backend technologies, frameworks, and best practices, introducing them when appropriate.
• Support product and departmental managers in aligning technical strategy with business goals and communicating progress to stakeholders.
• Participation in
  - call rotation to provide support outside of standard working hours.

Skills & Experience Required

• Leadership & Communication: Proven experience as a Team Leader or equivalent leadership role. Excellent communication,
  - making, and
  - resolution skills. Experience working with
  - functional and distributed teams.
• Technical Expertise: 7+ years of professional programming experience, with strong expertise in PHP. Deep knowledge of Symfony (>=5) and modern PHP development practices. Expert-level understanding of Object-Oriented Design and MVC implementation. Strong experience with Software Architecture, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), and API design. Solid grasp of relational databases (e. g. My
  SQL, Postgre
  SQL) and ORM tools. Experience with unit testing and
  - driven development practices. Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
• Additional Strengths: Experience with Dev
  Ops practices (CI/CD pipelines, containerization with Docker, orchestration with Kubernetes). Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and deployment strategies. Understanding of security best practices and scalable backend performance. Upper-Intermediate English or higher.
• Nice-to-Have: Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems. Experience with message queues /
  - driven architectures (Rabbit
  MQ, Kafka). Exposure to observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack). Familiarity with Graph
  QL or g
  RPC. Familiarity with Node. js in production environments. Experience building
  - time applications with Web
  Sockets.
