The Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon (ICS-ULisboa) is calling for applications for one (1) Research Grant for a Ph
D student, within the scope of one of its research infrastructures, the Publishing Service of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon. This infrastructure aims to produce, publish, and disseminate academic and scientific materials and to promote and monitor their distribution and sale. The grant is funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (Ref. : UID/50013/2025 and LA/P/0051/2020) and coordinated by Dr. Sofia Isabel Costa

Skills/Qualifications
The grant recipient will carry out R&D activities within the Publishing Service, which will include collaboration in editorial activities (receiving articles for the journal Análise Social, screening and peer review; production and publication of the journal, namely copyediting articles and other texts, monitoring external review, pagination, translation, printing; production of books by Imprensa de Ciências Sociais, namely copyediting and proofreading; suggesting and researching books for review; making publications available in repositories; indexing and referencing publications; and promoting and communicating science.
Specific Requirements
Candidates should possess as mandatory requirements:
- a) Enrollment or Declaration of Commitment to enroll in a Ph
 D program in a field of Social Sciences, Arts, or Humanities;
- b) Proven experience in editing and proofreading activities;
- c) Good knowledge of English and Portuguese (spoken and written).
Candidates should have the following preferential requirements:
- a) Knowledge of the national and international publishing system, with a special focus on the areas of Social Sciences and Humanities;
- b) Writing skills for communication products aimed at a wide audience.

Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I. P. (FCT, I. P. ), Regulation no. 950/2019, Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 241, of December 16 and, alternatively, Regulation of Research Grants of the University of Lisbon, approved by Order no. 6238/2020 published in Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 113, of June 12.
Workplace: Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon.
Scientific Orientation: The grant recipient will be supervised by Dr. Sofia Isabel Costa
- 'Aboim Inglez, Director of the journal Análise Social. 
Duration of the grant: The grant will last for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal up to the limits established in Article 6 of the Research Grant Regulations of the Foundation for Science and Technology or until the end of the funding period.
Amount of monthly maintenance allowance and Social Security :
The monthly maintenance allowance is €1, 309. 64 (one thousand three hundred and nine euros and
- four cents), paid monthly by bank transfer. 
The grant holder to be hired may exercise their right to social security by joining the voluntary social insurance scheme, under the terms of the Research Grant Holder-'s Statute, with ICS-ULisboa assuming the costs resulting from the contributions provided for in that Statute.

Selection methods and how they are valued:
The applicable selection methods will be a curricular assessment and a selection interview.
The selection interview will be conducted with the five candidates with the highest scores in the curriculum assessment, provided they have a score of 4. 5 points or higher.
Candidates will be selected on the basis of the terms of reference set out in paragraph 2 of this Notice, taking into account:
- a) Curriculum assessment, based on the work plan to be developed, considering the preferred requirements listed in point 2. 2 and other relevant factors, scored from 1 to 10 points (60%);
- b) Letter of Motivation, referred to in point 13. 2, subparagraph c), scored from 1 to 10 points (10%);
- c) Selection interview to assess motivation and competences, valued from 1 to 10 points (30%).

- 'Aboim Inglez ( President), Dr Vítor Sérgio Coelho Ferreira, Principal Investigator and Sub-Director of ICS (1st Effective Member), who will replace the President in her absence or impediment, and Dr Edalina Sanches, Principal Investigator and Sub-Director of ICS (2nd Effective Member). 
Prior hearing and notification of interested parties: All candidates will be notified of the final result of the evaluation, sent to the email address used to send their application, and/or by mail, to the address on the Personal Data Form in Annex, through a list in descending order of the final evaluation obtained. Candidates may exercise the right of prior hearing, in writing, within ten working days from the notification. For that purpose, candidates may request the minutes to be sent by
- mail or consult the procedure documents in person at the Institute during office hours.

 D program in the field of Social Sciences, Arts or Humanities;
- e) Submission of the Ph
 D enrolment certificate is a mandatory requirement for signing the contract.
