Position: Big Data Administrator (Hadoop Ecosystem)

Location: Lisbon

Work Model: Hybrid – 2 days/week onsite

Eligibility: Valid work permit for Portugal required

Languages: English (B2). French is a plus

About the Role

This role is ideal for an experienced Linux Systems Administrator with solid automation skills who wants to transition into Big Data platforms and grow toward Cloudera certification.

You will be part of a team responsible for the operations, maintenance, and evolution of
- scale Data Lake infrastructures, ensuring performance, reliability, and smooth platform lifecycle management.

Required Skills & Experience

• 4 - 6 years of experience Linux Systems Administrator.
• Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Ansible.
• Scripting experience using Python.
• Knowledge or interest in Hadoop ecosystem components, such as: HDFS, Yarn, Hive, Impala, Spark, HBase, Zookeeper, Kafka, etc.
• Understanding of Big Data operations within Data Lake environments.
• Ability to diagnose and solve issues in distributed systems.

Nice-to-Have

• Prior experience with Hadoop administration (Cloudera or Hortonworks).
• Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and operate the Hadoop ecosystem and Data Lake platforms.
• Support and maintain Big Data services & query engines (Hive, Impala, HBase, Spark components, etc. ).
• Perform platform monitoring, automation, and lifecycle management.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across complex Big Data environments.
• Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to ensure stability and performance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement through automation, scripting, and operational best practices.
