Role Overview

Mercor is seeking bilingual English–Portuguese language professionals to assist with a translation evaluation project for a leading AI research partner. Experts will assess AI-generated Portuguese content for fluency, accuracy, and alignment with how language is naturally used in Portugal. This is a
- term, flexible opportunity to influence language models with culturally precise input.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and assess Portuguese translations for fluency, clarity, and accuracy
• Suggest improvements that reflect idiomatic and culturally appropriate usage in Portugal
• Identify mistranslations or unclear phrasing
• Provide structured feedback on tone, regional usage, and linguistic quality
• Maintain high reading speed and attention to detail across varied content types

Ideal Qualifications

• Native or
  - native fluency in both Portuguese and English
• In-depth familiarity with Portuguese as spoken in Portugal
• 1+ year of experience in translation, editing, or language quality assurance
• Excellent reading comprehension and written communication skills
• Strong attention to linguistic and cultural nuances

• Expected commitment: 10+ hours/week

Compensation & Contract Terms

• $25–30/hour depending on experience and geography
• Paid weekly via Stripe Connect
• You’ll be classified as an independent contractor
