Main Mission
As a Ph
D-level bioinformatician based in Lisbon, you will be at the heart of the company’s data analysis strategy, leading bioinformatics and machine learning efforts to support biomarker discovery. You will collaborate closely with a local bioinformatician and maintain continuous interactions with our international research teams.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and conduct bioinformatics analyses across multiple omics platforms (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics) to support biomarker discovery and diagnostic development.
- Design, develop, and maintain reproducible bioinformatics pipelines, using workflow managers (e. g. , Nextflow) to automate complex analyses.
- Implement advanced machine learning and deep learning models to explore complex biological datasets, including for biomarker identification, patient stratification, and disease progression prediction.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of ongoing projects, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and resource availability.
- Prepare scientific and technical reports and support the drafting of research manuscripts and documentation for internal, regulatory, publication and commercial purposes.
- Ensure data quality, traceability, and compliance with internal standards and regulatory frameworks (e. g. , GDPR, ISO).
- Collaborate with
- functional and international teams across Firalis and Amoneta, contributing to joint R&D projects and knowledge transfer. - Engage in continuous scientific and technological monitoring and promote the adoption of innovative methods and tools across the organization.
Required qualifications and skills
- Ph
D in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field. - Proven experience in analysing omics data using standard bioinformatics tools.
- Strong programming skills in R and/or Python, and scripting in Bash.
- Proficiency in Linux-based environments and working with HPC or
- based infrastructures. - Experience with workflow managers (e. g. , Nextflow, Snakemake).
- Hands-on expertise in machine learning and deep learning applied to biological data, using libraries such as
- learn, Tensor
Flow, Keras, Py
Torch, or relevant R packages (e. g. , caret, mlr3). - Solid understanding of statistical models and
- driven data interpretation. - Fluency in English (spoken and written); proficiency in French is an asset.
- Good knowledge of data protection regulations (e. g. , GDPR) and familiarity with relevant quality standards.
- Strong teamwork, documentation, and communication skills.
- Background in neuroscience or neurodegenerative disease research is considered a plus.
- Familiarity with biomarker qualification processes or clinical trials is advantageous.
