A Postdoctoral Research Grant (BIPD) is open for the project "INSECTRAK - Advanced methods for the rapid detection of fraudulent insect addition in food and the authentication of
- based novel food (2023. 15568. PEX)". Funding is provided by National funds through the Foundation for Science and Technology, I. P.

Scientific Area: Molecular Biology

Responsibilities

• Develop LAMP methodologies for the specific identification of Bombyx mori in processed foods.
• Develop a real‑time PCR methodology for the specific detection of Locusta migratoria and a quantitative model to estimate the percentage of L.  migratoria in flours from other species.
• Support sample acquisition and guide students involved in the project.
• Write articles and disseminate the results obtained.

Qualifications

• Ph
  D in Molecular Biology, Genomics or a closely related field awarded within the last three years.
• Ph
  D awarded by a foreign institution must be recognised in Portugal.
• Cumulative postdoctoral period not exceeding three years.
• Experience and training appropriate to the activities to be carried out during the contract.
• Demonstrated practical knowledge in DNA analysis techniques, including primer design, LAMP assay development, quantitative real‑time PCR and bioinformatics.

Selection Process

• Curriculum evaluation – 30%
• Experience related to the work plan – 40%
• Interview – 30% (held only for candidates who score positively in the first two components)

Additional Information

Grant duration: 3 months, starting 15 November 2025, with possible renewal up to a maximum of 9 months.

Monthly maintenance allowance: €1, 851. 00, paid by bank transfer. Grant recipients are covered by personal accident insurance and may opt into the voluntary social insurance scheme.
