The role of a Cloud Field Engineering Manager at Canonical
The team of cloud solutions architects works directly with customers to design private and public cloud solutions, including Openstack, Micro
Cloud, Ceph, Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Spark, Postgre
SQL, and more. Managers oversee deployment, testing, and handover of solutions, and participate in presales activities to provide technical advice.
Responsibilities include line management, career guidance, developing engineering talent, representing the team technically, and driving collaboration. Active participation in technical presales is also expected.

What your day will look like
- Lead and develop a team of Field engineers across presales and professional services
- Solve customer problems and act as a trusted advisor
- Work remotely within a single major time zone
- Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback
- Identify and measure team health indicators
- Implement disciplined engineering processes
- Represent your team and products to stakeholders, partners, and customers
- Develop and promote best engineering and organizational practices
- Plan and manage progress on goals and projects
- Collaborate with other leadership team members
What we are looking for in you
- Knowledge of cloud computing technologies such as Kubernetes, Openstack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph
- Practical Linux and networking knowledge
- Experience in technical presales
- Dynamic personality with enthusiasm for new projects and interacting with people
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Passion for developing and growing people
- Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring engineers
- Organized with a focus on delivering
- quality results on time - Strong academic background
- Willingness to travel up to 40%
Additional skills that you might also bring
- Second language such as Spanish or French
- Knowledge of Python
- Experience working with external partners
- Experience collaborating with internal teams and providing stakeholder feedback
