Job Description

We’re looking for a seasoned Java developer to maintain and enhance existing software applications at Merkle, a dentsu company. The role involves supporting legacy systems, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, troubleshooting complex issues, and building scalable REST web services.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance existing Java applications, including On
  Call duties
• Provide day‑to‑day support and assist other teams
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand requirements and propose optimizations
• Conduct code reviews, recommend refactoring and performance improvements
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues promptly
• Design and develop scalable REST web services
• Implement and integrate Open
  API specifications and Swagger documentation
• Optimize SQL queries for efficient data retrieval and manipulation
• Leverage Elastic
  Search to offload applications and enhance search performance
• Use monitoring tools such as New
  Relic, Grafana, or Kibana to improve system performance
• Explore and evaluate new technologies and frameworks to improve architecture and development processes
• Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering their growth
• Ensure compliance with coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines
• Stay current with industry trends and share knowledge with the team

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Java developer or similar role
• At least 2 years of Java development experience with popular frameworks
• Solid understanding of REST services and API development
• Experience with containerization using Docker or Podman
• Proficiency in GIT version control
• Strong knowledge of SQL and database optimization
• Familiarity with front‑end technologies: Type
  Script, Java
  Script, HTML, XML, JSON
• Experience with monitoring tools: Elastic
  Search, New
  Relic, Grafana, Kibana (plus)
• Knowledge of Maven and Gradle; Scala is a plus
• Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
• Curious and open‑minded, strong customer service orientation
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
• Fluent in English
