Commercial Director
Key member of Gleeds project team responsible for representing the company and leading cost and procurement management aspects of a data centres construction project delivery. This role involves overseeing the financial and contractual elements to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Director will work closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to drive value and efficiency throughout the project life cycle.
About The Role
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Formulating and managing strategies to deliver the business objectives.
- Ensuring that projects are managed in accordance with Gleeds processes and procedures.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring a customer care plan is in place.
- Delivering
- quality services and deliverables ensuring that services meet our customers' requirements. - Resolving customer complaints.
- Leading the commercial and cost management functions for
- scale data centre projects. - Developing and implementing commercial strategies aligned with project goals and client expectations.
- Overseeing cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure financial control.
- Conducting cost analysis and benchmarking to optimise project costs.
- Managing contract negotiations and compliance to ensure all contractual obligations are met and risks are mitigated.
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities, implementing risk mitigation strategies to protect project interests.
- Promoting sustainable practices and innovative solutions in cost management.
- Reviewing scope of appointments regularly to ensure services are delivered as per agreements.
- Ensuring sufficient resources are available to deliver services on the project.
- Leading and managing teams, including working with Associate Directors to manage resources and workload. Ensuring compliance with administrative requirements (appraisals, training, timesheets, etc. ).
- Briefing employees on relevant aspects of Gleeds' business.
- Managing service delivery for profit.
- Handling the commercial aspects of projects, including scope of services/deliverables, invoices, payments, and debt management.
- Collaborating harmoniously with other project team leads and assisting Project and Programme Directors.

About You
Who we’re looking for:
Experience, Knowledge, and Key Skills
- Sound cost management experience in data centres construction projects, covering
- contract and
- contract tasks. - Practical knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies.
- Strong knowledge and experience of
- contract cost management tasks. - Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Methodical approach to work.
- Organisational skills and adaptability to changing environments.
- Excellent
- solving, negotiation, finance, and numeracy skills. - Proficiency in ICT tools, especially MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power
Point. - Ability to work and manage teams effectively.
- Fluent in English.
- Willing to work
- site 5 days a week.
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Quantity Surveying.
- Professional qualifications or membership of RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS, or other relevant Chartered Institute are desirable.
