Commercial Manager – Renewables

Commercial Director
Mission
Turn plans into action across the business. You will bring together Development, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Advisors to prepare clear decision materials, build overview and implement commercial optimization of the renewable portfolio, and—when needed—manage processes and material preparation relating to project finance, PPAs and transactions.
Expected outcomes
- Decision materials:
Preparation of Investment Committee (IC) packs accepted without major rework;
typical turnaround ≤7 business days from brief. - PPAs:
Analyze and present contract options (price/volume/tenor/merchant/risk) and power market analysis within 72 hours. - Portfolio reporting:
Monthly steerco performance pack preparation with optimization actions with quantified savings or value uplift. - Financing support:
Preparation of lender materials and support Q&A turnaround ≤48 hours;
clear issue/risk log kept current. - Divestment readiness:
For selected assets, produce a concise prospectus/teaser and DD checklist;
data room ready to share within 10 working days. - Assumption governance:
Manage financial valuation specialist holding single,
- linked Assumption Book live;
changes logged within 48 hours and signed off by owners.
What you'll do
- Build decision packs:
Turn directions from the Commercial Director into short, clear papers and slides with options, recommendation, and next steps. - Run the cadence:
Lead a short weekly commercial
- up;
keep a simple log of Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Decisions;
chase owners to closure. - Structure PPAs:
Compare baseload, profiled, and sleeved/virtual options and convey valuation analysis;
prepare exec
- outs. - Report and improve the portfolio:
Own the monthly commercial/operational pack;
drive
- up actions. - Support debt processes:
Coordinate materials for lenders/advisors, align numbers and assumptions, and manage Q&A and trackers. - Prepare for sales (divestments):
Draft a simple investor prospectus/teaser, set up the data room, compile vendor DD materials, and coordinate advisors. - Keep one source of truth:
Manage financial model lead holding the Assumption Book with version control and
- offs. - After decisions:
Capture lessons learned and update templates so the next process is faster.
Must-haves (non-negotiable)
- 5–8+ years in
- tier consulting or a commercial/strategy role in energy/infrastructure. - Sector experience in BESS, Solar and Wind.
- Expert slide writing and Excel;
able to frame options and run basic sensitivities. - Working knowledge of PPAs and project finance basics (IRR/NPV/DSCR, merchant vs hedged).
- Proven
- functional coordination and delivery under time pressure. - Clear written and spoken English;
EU work authorization.
Nice-to-haves
- Direct exposure to PPA negotiations or lender due diligence.
- Experience preparing asset sale materials (teaser, info pack, data room).
- Comfort with Power Query/Power BI or light scripting (VBA/Python) for repeatable analysis.
- Portuguese, Spanish, or Danish.

Offtakers, lenders, advisors, OEMs/EPCs, JV partners, potential buyers.
