Construction Director

- effective, and
- quality delivery.
Role Overview:
The Construction Director will be responsible for the comprehensive management of construction projects, from planning and design to execution and completion. This role demands strong leadership, technical expertise, and compliance with industry standards and regulations. The ideal candidate must have the flexibility to travel frequently, possess a valid driver’s license, and can manage multiple sites. Registration with the Portuguese Order of Engineers is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Supervision:
- Manage and oversee construction activities across current sites, including Alcácer do Sal and Bucelas .
- Ensure site operations are aligned with project plans and resolve
- site issues efficiently.
Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all construction activities comply with Portuguese construction laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Maintain strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Budget and Cost Control:
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring
- efficiency and avoiding overruns. - Monitor and approve expenditures, contracts, and change orders.
- Lead and mentor the construction team, fostering collaboration and productivity.
- Resolve conflicts and ensure seamless communication among project stakeholders.
- Identify potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
- Monitor progress and address issues proactively to avoid delays or cost increases.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Provide regular progress updates to senior management and project stakeholders.
- Maintain detailed project documentation, including schedules, budgets, and compliance reports.
Project Management:
- Oversee all phases of construction projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Certification: Must be registered with the Portuguese Order of Engineers.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in construction management, with a focus on
- scale projects. - Proven track record of successfully delivering projects within the hospitality or real estate sectors is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal requirements.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Languages: Fluency in Portuguese and English is required.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and
- solving skills. - Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
