Practice Area – Market Risk teams as part of the Corporate and Investment Banking Sector:

European Corporate and Investment Banking has evolved significantly over the past decade, driven by heightened regulatory requirements and intense competition across the EU. At the core of banking, the risk and market risk functions play a critical role, ensuring financial stability, regulatory compliance, and effective risk management across diverse businesses and markets within the European framework.

Our Market Risk teams help our clients identify, assess, and manage exposure to market risks. Our consultants provide strategic guidance, manage
- driven projects, and deliver expert analysis to optimize risk management frameworks and ensure compliance with evolving EU and global regulations.

What you’ll do:

As a senior business consultant with Finance expertise, you will be leading transformation projects for our global banking clients in Finance (accounting and financial reporting, asset & liability management, financial planning and analysis, tax planning and compliance). You will assist clients in developing strategic plans and providing insights that align with their business goals and objectives. You will participate, manage and lead consulting projects, from execution to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.

At a senior level, you will help identify new business opportunities, participate in proposal writing, and contribute to the growth of the consulting practice. You will also be a champion for area of expertise, by staying updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies and presenting them to colleagues and clients.

Where you’ll be stationed:

TNP Consultants has recently opened offices in Lisbon and Porto and is looking for candidates to fill positions in both locations.

TNP is an international consulting firm, you will participate in international assignments, with potential travel and
- term stationing overseas.

What you’ll bring:

Equipped with a strong analytical mindset, you are ready to join our
- growing international company, recently established in Portugal, as a Market Risk Analyst.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification (e. g. , FRM, CFA) is highly preferred.
• Experience: 6 to 11 years of experience in market risk analysis or consulting within global banks, with a deep understanding of market risk frameworks, processes, and regulatory requirements.
• Market Risk Expertise: Extensive knowledge of key market risk areas, including risk modeling, stress testing, scenario analysis, and VAR (Value at Risk) methodologies.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong familiarity with global and regional regulations (e. g. , Basel III, FRTB), and experience ensuring compliance with market risk standards in financial institutions.
• Project Management: Proven ability to manage complex projects is a plus, from initial risk assessment and data analysis to implementation, within market risk departments.
• Analytical Skills: Excellent
  - solving and analytical capabilities to assess market data, identify risks, and provide strategic recommendations.
• Stakeholder Management: Ability to engage with senior stakeholders, including CROs, risk managers, and heads of trading desks, to understand business needs and deliver tailored risk solutions.
• Process Improvement: Experience in identifying and implementing process improvements to optimize risk management practices and regulatory compliance within banking institutions.
• Technology Savvy: Familiarity with market risk systems and tools (e. g. , Murex, Bloomberg, MSCI Risk
  Metrics) and the ability to leverage technology for risk analysis and reporting.
• Risk and Control: Strong understanding of risk management principles, including market risk limits, risk controls, and capital adequacy frameworks in banking.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex risk concepts to both technical and
  - technical stakeholders.
• Leadership and Teamwork: Demonstrated leadership in managing teams, mentoring junior analysts, and collaborating with
  - functional teams in a global environment.
• Languages: Bilingual: Portuguese and English. French is a plus but not mandatory.
• Travel Overseas: Prepared for temporary assignments abroad (e. g. , France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg).
