Contract Operations Specialist
About the role :
Join our dynamic team as a Contract Operations Specialist, a key role within the External Expert Engagement Services (E3S) team of the General Business Services (GBS) unit. This position is pivotal in leading and ensuring accurate and compliant processing of contracting requests in accordance with policies, procedures, regulations, and transparency/disclosure reporting requirements. The role also provides payment support related to management of associated payments when required. A successful candidate will have a project management mentality with a focus on responsiveness, partnering to conduct operational tasks to ensure accuracy and completeness of requirements, and will provide guidance to partners (customers), management, and peers
What you’ll do
- Own contracting workflows: Review engagement applications for completeness and triage requests to the right reviewers and business areas, guiding stakeholders through approvals.
- Protect compliance: Conduct preliminary due diligence to avoid contracting with debarred/excluded parties and ensure agreements align with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Drive timely execution: Secure executed Letters of Agreement (LOAs) and contracts ahead of program start dates and manage
- requested changes. - Enable transparency reporting: Collect and validate
- related data to meet Open Payments, EFPIA, and other state/country reporting requirements; collaborate with the payments team to ensure accuracy and timeliness. - Improve how we work: Contribute as a subject matter expert to process design and operational improvement projects; support training and development of junior team members.
What you’ll bring
- Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree and 1+ year in a similar operational or contracting role.
- Technical proficiency: Strong experience with Salesforce, Excel, and Word; quick learner of Astra
Zeneca administrative tools and processes. - Operational excellence: Proven ability to project manage workflows, organize activities, and partner closely with budget owners and customers through SOPs and work instructions.
- Procure-to-pay understanding: Knowledge of

- pay systems/processes and procurement. - Communication and collaboration: Excellent written and verbal English; skilled at
- functional partnering and building trust. - Personal qualities: Strong attention to detail, organizational rigor, high ethical standards, and discretion.
Nice to have
- Experience managing simple to complex projects/contracts in a similar role.
- Background in biopharma (Sales, Marketing, R&D, Compliance, Legal, Procurement) or consulting with pharma clients.
- Familiarity with compliance and reporting requirements (e. g. , Physician Payment Sunshine Act, EFPIA), data quality, and related legislation.
- Experience in compliance, finance, auditing, quality assurance/control, SOX, or risk management.
- Global and
- cultural collaboration experience.
