Data Architect / Data Product Architect

Location: Lisbon, Portugal (Hybrid – 1 day per week onsite)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Architect / Data Product Architect to join our team in Lisbon, supporting a leading international client. This role will define and drive the data architecture strategy while ensuring projects and programmes deliver scalable,
-
- purpose, and
- ready data solutions.

As a key member of the Architecture function, you will work across Data Management, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, and Data Integration , collaborating with business and IT stakeholders to align data products with business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Data Product Owners to translate business requirements into scalable, efficient data models and architectures .
• Collaborate with business units, data engineers, scientists, and analysts to ensure alignment with operational and strategic goals.
• Define and enforce data architecture frameworks, standards, and principles (modelling, metadata, security, reference data, quality).
• Govern logical and physical data models, ensuring consistency across data products.
• Promote adoption of data mesh and
  - thinking within teams to deliver
  - wide data strategy.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory standards while enabling interoperability and observability of data products.
• Maintain and evolve
  - state architecture documentation, aligning with enterprise strategy.

Key Skills & Experience

• Extensive data modelling expertise (conceptual → physical) with tools such as Erwin, ER Studio .
• Strong knowledge of data & integration architecture : APIs,
  - driven architecture, batch integration, data lakes, data mesh, data warehousing, and data management.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Services and platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake .
• Familiarity with data cataloguing and quality tools .
• Solid understanding of both agile and waterfall delivery approaches .
• Knowledge of governance, assurance, design principles, patterns, performance, and security .
• Experience presenting solutions at architecture boards and driving
  - making.
• Strong stakeholder management, able to balance technical excellence with business pragmatism.
