Experienced Data Engineer – Long Term Contract (Remote, Portugal-based)

About the Role
We are seeking an Experienced Data Engineer to join a
- term contract engagement on a
- impact data project. You will design, build, and maintain the data infrastructure and pipelines that enable
- driven
- making across the organization.
This role requires strong expertise in Python, SQL, Azure Data Factory, Databricks , and
- based ETL/ELT processes. Occasional travel may be required (0–15%).
Key Responsibilities
Design and build data models to support Data Science, Business Intelligence, and downstream datasets.
Develop APIs and data products to integrate data across systems and processes.
Monitor and maintain data pipelines, addressing issues proactively.
Collaborate with business partners and development teams to ensure requirements are clearly defined and implemented.
Partner with leadership to coordinate
- team and
- function initiatives.
Implement best practices for data quality, performance, and reliability.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Data Engineer or Data Quality Engineer in
- paced environments.
Expert in SQL and Python , with experience organizing Python-based projects.
Extensive experience with Azure Data Factory , Databricks , ETL/ELT pipelines, and Azure Cloud services.
Strong understanding of data modeling methodologies (Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault).
Excellent collaboration and communication skills with developers, partners, and leadership.
Nice to Have
Experience with automated unit and integration testing for data projects.
Background in Business Intelligence or Business Analysis.
Experience with Ia
C tools (Terraform, Cloud
Formation).
Familiarity with Tableau or other visualization tools.
Experience with CI/CD automation (e. g. , Git
Lab).
Knowledge of batch and streaming pipelines , and 3rd-party data ingestion via APIs.
Experience integrating data platforms with observability tools.
Contract Details
Long-term contract with potential for extension.
Competitive daily rate.
Fully remote within Portugal (other locations may be considered depending on project).
