About the Role

We are looking for a curious, communicative, and technically strong Data Engineer to join our collaborative team in Braga. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who is eager to grow, learn from a seasoned team, and take ownership of impactful data projects. You’ll be working on scalable,
- agnostic data systems and contribute to both R&D and
- grade data pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain efficient, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines
• Collaborate within an Agile team to build and improve data integration solutions
• Write
  - structured, testable code and contribute to peer reviews
• Ensure data solutions are
  - agnostic and aligned with best practices
• Implement proper logging and error handling strategies
• Learn and adopt industry standards in testing, dependency management, and packaging
• Participate in technical discussions and actively contribute to a healthy team culture

Must-Have Skills

• Solid understanding of Python fundamentals, including logging, testing (e. g. mocking), and package management (e. g. Poetry)
• Experience working in Agile teams
• Basic to intermediate experience with ETL processes and data transformation
• Knowledge of working with file systems and tools like fsspec
• Familiarity with
  - agnostic development principles
• Strong communication skills, with a proactive and professional attitude
• Ability to articulate solutions, explain design decisions, and ask thoughtful questions

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Exposure to Pandas and ability to optimise data workflows
• Experience working with XML files and handling large file processing in batches
• Experience with AI tools to enhance productivity, with a strong emphasis on validation and testing
• Interest or experience in leadership, with ambitions to move into a managerial role in the future
• Knowledge of data integration practices and troubleshooting in production environments
