We are looking for a Data Engineer / Scala Developer for a hybrid position in Porto:

Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer / Scala Developer to join our development team. The ideal candidate will have experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable applications and microservices using Scala and related frameworks. You will collaborate with
- functional teams to deliver
- quality software solutions, ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications and APIs using Scala.
• Implement functional programming principles and best practices in software design.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other developers to define requirements and technical solutions.
• Write clean, testable, and efficient code, ensuring high standards of quality.
• Develop and optimize scalable microservices and distributed systems.
• Perform code reviews, provide feedback, and mentor junior developers.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues across environments.
• Contribute to continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Stay up to date with new technologies, frameworks, and industry trends in functional programming and backend development.

Qualifications & Skills

• Proven experience as a Scala Developer or Backend Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of Scala, functional programming, and
  - oriented principles.
• Experience with frameworks such as Akka, Play, or Cats .
• Solid understanding of concurrency, parallelism, and distributed computing .
• Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and
  - driven systems .
• Strong
  - solving and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred

• Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark .
• Knowledge of reactive programming and streaming technologies (Kafka, Flink, etc. ).
• Background in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
