We are looking for an experienced scientist to join our Data Science/Machine Learning team, focusing primarily on our Hotels Auction platform. Our Hotels business is one of the main online resources for travelers researching where to stay on their next trip, and the auction platform is a key component of the technology we use to connect those travelers with hotel operators and online travel agencies (OTAs). As a Data Scientist working in this space, you will have the opportunity to apply your modeling and engineering skills to various areas, with a focus on predictive modeling and auction dynamics. You will deploy your solutions online and observe their impact through continuous testing and iteration. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including ML scientists, analysts, product managers, engineers, and
- facing teams, to build ML-powered solutions that help us understand partner valuation of hotels and traveler preferences. You’ll be encouraged to take ownership of your projects and explore new opportunities for applying machine learning to improve the business.

What you will be doing

• Design and deploy machine learning models to address core business problems in the Experiences division.
• Identify new opportunities to apply data science and machine learning in the Experiences space.
• Prototype, evaluate, deploy, and maintain models in production.
• Design A/B tests and analyze their results.
• Communicate model performance and insights to technical and business stakeholders.
• Contribute to project planning and next steps determination.

Qualifications:

• Ph
  D in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related field, or Masters with 2+ years of practical experience.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and
  - technical audiences.
• Strong foundation in machine learning and statistics.
• Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with recommendation modeling is a plus.
• Experience working with
  - world data is strongly preferred.
• Previous industry experience is a plus.
