Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Salary: Up to €70, 000 + competitive bonus

Location: Portugal (Remote or Hybrid)

I am looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join a fast‑growing AI team focused on operationalizing cutting‑edge ML models and delivering robust ML pipelines at scale. This is an exciting opportunity to work on real‑world AI applications, optimise ML workflows, and contribute to a high‑performing, cross‑functional team.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with data scientists to develop production‑ready model training pipelines
• Design scalable solutions and inference pipelines in distributed environments
• Implement model diagnostics, monitoring flows, and evaluation metrics
• Automate model deployment and create REST API endpoints for ML models
• Build scalable model serving workflows
• Optimize clusters for performance and scalability
• Develop and maintain internal ML tools and libraries

What They are Looking For

• Extensive software development experience using Python in large‑scale, high‑performance production environments
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
• Proficiency with Spark/Py

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and interact regularly with diverse stakeholders and other data teams as an enabler.
• Implement and develop solutions for business use cases applying AI/ML techniques and frameworks, including LLM models.
• Ensure security and privacy compliance with data standards for data handling and model deployment.

You must have

• Knowledge and understanding of ML models, including LLM.
• Experience working with Databases (relational and non‑relational), Data Structures (json, xml) and using SQL.
• Programming experience in Python and any Data Science & ML packages, such as numpy, pandas, matplotlib, scikit‑learn, Tensor
  Flow, Keras, nltk, spacy, gensim.
• Experience communicating and dealing with different stakeholders.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies, such as SCRUM.
• Availability to go to the office, twice a week.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in understanding and summarising datasets to uncover patterns, spot anomalies, and test hypotheses.
• Creating intuitive and informative visual representations of data to aid understanding and communication of insights.
• Building and optimising machine learning models to solve specific problems or make predictions.
• Assessing model performance using metrics and refining them as necessary to meet business objectives.
• Implementing models in production environments so they can be used to generate real‑world value.

You must have

• Higher education in a STEM related field, with major statistics or mathematics components.
• Five to ten years of experience in Data Science / ML projects.
• Professional experience in end‑to‑end data science / machine learning initiatives, encompassing data understanding, preparation, modelling and evaluation, and deployment.
• Solid command of data science concepts and principles – especially around EDA, modelling and evaluation.
• Professional experience with Python and industry standard Python data science / ML frameworks (e. g. scikit, pytorch, keras, opencv, pandas, others).
• Professional experience in data preparation/transformation (e. g. SQL, pandas).
• Professional experience working with a cloud environment is mandatory, AWS highly preferred.
• Experience with LLM, RAG, and Generative AI technologies is highly preferred.
• Professional experience with Databricks is highly valued.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Fluency in English is mandatory.
• European Union Citizenship or Portuguese Working Visa / Portuguese Residency.
• Availability to go to the office, once a week.

Pipeline Migration Assistant
