We're hiring an experienced

Data Steward

to join our growing team in Porto. You'll play a key role in our transition from a Centralized to a Federated Data Governance Model, helping embed governance practices into

- day operations and ensuring that our X domain data is accurate,
- documented, and compliant.

What do you need to be a SMART Data Steward?

• 3+ years of experience in data management, business analysis, or a similar role
• Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and metadata management
• Familiarity with data governance tools (Data Catalogs, Data Quality Observability platforms)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with both business and technical stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail and
  - solving skills
• Critical thinking and proactive mindset
• Willingness to learn quickly and continuously improve processes
• Experience with
  - end scripting using Java
  Script, Python, or similar languages
• Basic knowledge of Git, including usage of branches, Git
  Hub, or Git
  Lab
• Fluent in English

What will your role at SMART be?

• Ensure accurate documentation of X data assets in the enterprise data catalog
• Manage metadata (glossary, lineage) and processes to ensure proper use of data
• Maintain data lineage, transformations, and user interactions along the data pipeline
• Understand data flows and automate updates to tools that track data
• Update business terms within metadata management tools
• Support classification and tagging of sensitive or critical data
• Maintain and improve the quality, integrity, and accuracy of domain data assets
• Monitor key data quality indicators (DQIs) and resolve data issues collaboratively
• Collaborate with business and IT teams to define and enforce data standards, business rules, and validation checks
• Act as a point of contact for data governance activities within the domain
• Promote data literacy and awareness of data governance practices across teams
• Gather stakeholder requirements, prioritize effectively, and ensure delivery roadmaps

Nice to Have

• Experience with data visualization tools (e. G. , Power BI)
• Previous experience in federated or decentralized data governance environments
