Role Description
ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a Design Manager and Squad Captain to join our team.
As a Design Manager you will be responsible for managing a team of Product Designers, Researchers and UX Writers while their direct people management remains with their respective team leads.
The Design Manager’s mission is to coordinate, structure, and enable the design practice, making sure the team can deliver
quality outcomes consistently and efficiently. You will:
Responsibilities
- Define roles, responsibilities, and ways of working across the design function.
- Help organize and maintain our design assets and documentation, making them accessible to the whole team.
- Ensure smooth collaboration between squads and stakeholders by unblocking issues and connecting the right people.
- Oversee the readiness of deliverables: making sure user stories are clear, Jira is up to date, and quality standards are met (without going into technical detail).
- Track the design team’s workload and progress, ensuring the right priorities are followed.
- Provide visibility to leadership on the status of design initiatives.
- Act as a bridge between design and other departments (product, engineering, HR, project management, etc. ).
- Strong understanding of the design process (5+ years of relevant experience).
- Experience managing workflows, documentation, and design operations (Figma, Confluence, Jira).
- Ability to build, maintain, and optimize processes and structures for scalability.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess capacity, track progress, and report outcomes.
- Commercial awareness to understand client priorities and business needs.
- Previous experience in people support roles (career growth, performance feedback, mentoring).
- Fluency in English.
- Natural collaborator and problem solver, able to connect people and unblock work.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage across teams and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with strict attention to detail.
- Comfortable with negotiation and managing expectations in demanding contexts.
- Time management and resilience: capable of handling a volume workload without losing focus.
- Ability to nurture culture and team spirit, both within Bliss and inside the client.
- Empathy, active listening, and a genuine interest in people’s growth and wellbeing.
