Company Overview
Protecnium is an international consulting firm specialising in engineering and technical services. We are currently seeking a Design Manager to support a Major Renewable Energy Infrastructure Project in New South Wales (NSW). This role involves leading multidisciplinary design teams in the execution and coordination of permanent works for a
- scale hydropower development.
Role Summary
The Design Manager will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of design documentation and ensuring alignment with the project’s technical, safety, and quality requirements. The role involves managing internal teams and external consultants, ensuring the constructability of designs, and serving as the key liaison between design and construction functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full design lifecycle of civil and completion works packages.
- Ensure compliance with project requirements, technical specifications, and applicable regulations.
- Coordinate design activities across multiple disciplines and interface with construction and subcontractor teams.
- Administer Design Services Agreements and manage consultants’ performance.
- Lead design review meetings and engage with stakeholders for timely approvals.
- Monitor design programme, budget, and quality targets.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the design team.
- Ensure integration of construction methodologies in the design process.
- Review client feedback and coordinate responses in collaboration with the design team.
- Prepare and present internal and external design reports.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, along with a Project Management certification.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in leading multidisciplinary design teams on large infrastructure or hydropower projects.
- Strong technical knowledge in underground construction, structural engineering, and integration of E&M systems within EPC contracts.
- Proven ability to manage design programmes, budgets, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory compliance.
- English language proficiency at C1 level and possession (or willingness to obtain) a valid White Card.
