Job Overview

Cloudflare is seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to join our team and support our largest and most technically sophisticated customers in resolving technical problems, threats or attacks on their infrastructure at OSI Layers 3, 4, and 7. This role spans products such as Magic Transit, Argo Smart Routing, DDo
S mitigation, Network Firewall, WAF, Spectrum, and Rate Limiting.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers via chat, email, and phone.
• Advise customers on DDo
  S mitigation for OSI layers 3, 4, and 7 using Cloudflare tools.
• Work with Engineering and Operations teams to mitigate attacks, suggest mitigation steps, and apply appropriate mitigations.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to improve products and tools.

Qualifications

• Self‑driven and capable of learning new technologies with little guidance.
• Fundamental understanding of how the Internet works (OSI Model).
• Advanced understanding of modern internet protocols such as TCP and UDP.
• Computer networking fundamentals; experience with iptables and looking glass.
• Experience troubleshooting network connectivity issues, BGP routing, and GRE tunnels.
• Packet capture analysis skills.
• Proficient with command‑line tools (curl, dig, traceroute, openssl, git).
• Experience in a web hosting environment installing and configuring web servers such as Apache, Nginx, Caddy, and IIS.
• Experience working as part of a team in a customer‑facing role.

Bonus Points

• Fluent in German, Japanese, French, Spanish, Portuguese, or Mandarin.
• Experience with Postgre
  SQL, My
  SQL, MS SQL, and other database servers.
• Active use of the Cloudflare platform.
