Direct Materials Sourcing Specialist

CTR is a multinational manufacturing company looking for a Direct Materials Sourcing Specialist to join our Sourcing team in Portugal.
The Direct Materials Sourcing Specialist will work directly with our Project Management, Research and Development and Revenue team and negotiate directly with our suppliers to present the best price/quality and lead time to fulfill our needs.
Main Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing and Category Management:
- Lead complex,
- value sourcing projects to identify
- saving opportunities, supplier consolidation, and process improvements. - Develop and implement sourcing strategies to support business objectives and mitigate supply chain risks, taking into account market trends, industry dynamics, and supplier capabilities.
- Conduct detailed spend analysis to inform category strategies and prioritize sourcing initiatives.
Supplier Relationship and Performance Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular supplier evaluations, manage performance reviews, and resolve escalated issues or disputes.
- Drive negotiations supplier to secure favorable contract terms, including pricing, service levels, and quality commitments.
Contract and Compliance Management and Compliance:
- Draft, review, and manage supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and legal requirements.
- Oversee contract renewals, terminations, and amendments to maintain continuity and performance.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and that organizational procurement policies are in place across supplier base.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Partner with executive leadership and
- functional teams to align sourcing activities with organizational priorities. - Act as contact point for internal stakeholders, providing procurement expertise to address business challenges and optimize solutions.
- Serve as a key liaison between the sourcing function and other departments, ensuring smooth execution of initiatives.
Coaching, Mentorship and Drive Sourcing Initiatives
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and coaching to the sourcing team, helping to develop their skills and capabilities in procurement and strategic sourcing.
- Drive organizational sourcing initiatives by leading the sourcing team and ensure timely completion.
Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement:
- Enhance procurement processes, policies, and systems to increase efficiency, visibility, and control over sourcing activities.
- Monitor procurement KPIs and implement corrective actions to achieve/exceed performance targets.
- Leverage industry best practices, benchmarks, and emerging technologies to drive transformation within the sourcing function.
Market Intelligence and Innovation:
- Stay informed about market trends, supplier innovations, and cost drivers to ensure sourcing strategies remain competitive and innovative.
- Use
- driven insights to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement across the supply chain.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e. G. , CPSM, CSCP) are a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in direct material strategic sourcing,
- Proven track record of negotiating contracts and agreements with key suppliers with strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills for influencing and collaborating with diverse teams.
- Excellent analytical and
- solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and drive results. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement systems (e. G. , SAP, Ariba) and data analysis tools.
- Advanced negotiation and contract management expertise.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e. G. , CSCP, CPSM) is a plus.
- Fluency in English required;
additional languages are a plus.
