The Porto Center Director of Global Business Services (GBS) is a key leadership role, the P&L owner responsible for the operational management of the center providing
- added services to business functions in Europe (Finance, HR, Procurement, etc. ).
This role ensures the efficient delivery of services and alignment with the organization's objectives. It provides guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to the domain managers.
This role provides a unique opportunity to lead a large services center, be part of the larger GBS environment and participate in further building the journey.
The successful candidate will possess strong leadership and excellent interpersonal skills, combined with high emotional intelligence, problem solving capabilities, business acumen and a strategic mindset
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership:
Develop and execute a roadmap for the global business services center, aligning its goals with the overall business strategy and with a primary focus on client satisfaction and efficiency. - Operational Excellence:
Oversee and optimize shared services functions such as Finance, HR, IT, Procurement and other relevant departments to enhance operational efficiency. - P&L owner:
Manage the center budget, cost controls, and financial sustainability while delivering
- quality services within budgetary constraints. - Client Relationship and governance:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal clients and stakeholders, understanding their needs and expectations while delivering superior services. - Talent Management:
Align with the center Head of HR for talent management strategies with overall business objectives and ensuring the development and retention of a skilled workforce to achieve those objectives. Be accountable for encouraging employee engagement and for developing a
- oriented team culture. - Team Leadership:
Build, develop, and lead a diverse and
- performing team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. - Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and continuous improvement to enhance service delivery and reduce operational costs. - Quality Assurance:
Ensure high service quality and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) while implementing quality control measures and best practices. - Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, manage operational risks, and maintain a robust control environment. - Performance Metrics:
Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the center’s performance, providing regular reporting to senior management. - Change Management:
Lead and support change initiatives within the shared services center, ensuring smooth transitions and continuous process improvement.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Senior professional with a specialization or master’s degree in business administration or related fields, with a 15+ yrs minimum of overall experience, out of which 7 years’ experience of managing teams in Finance or other Functions.
- Experiences within a progressive GBS/ SCC/ business services operating model is a plus.
- Strong cultural awareness and ability to work across European cultures
- A
- oriented person, a doer and a fixer with hands on approach and proven
- solving skills. - Profound skillset around leadership, communication, multifunctional collaboration and stakeholder management, effective conflict management.
- Experience of being a change agent, track record of successfully managed & completed organizational transformation projects.
- Able to contribute to Group strategy while having a proven ability to make effective business decisions in a dynamic and ambiguous environment.
- Understanding of business and system analysis, including root cause analysis and other process modelling and systems design methodology.
- Fluent English (verbal and written) is a must have.
