Director Of Housekeeping
POSITION SUMMARY :
The Housekeeping Director is responsible for the entire guest onboard experience related to cleanliness and stateroom service, ensuring a seamless execution of premium, memorable service. This role requires outstanding hospitality, communication, organizational skills, and effective
- making. The Housekeeping Director must pay keen attention to detail and be fully accountable for the quality of all guests’ experiences. They will take full ownership of the maintenance and cleanliness of assigned areas and lead their team to deliver exceptional service.
HIRING QUALIFICATIONS :
- Five to seven years of housekeeping managerial experience in upscale hotels, resorts, or cruise lines (shipboard experience preferred).
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field from an accredited institution or equivalent international qualification.
- Extensive knowledge of cleaning procedures aligned with public health standards.
- Proficiency in proper cleaning techniques, chemical handling, safety procedures, equipment use, and job safety analysis related to chemical handling, lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy equipment, and garbage removal.
- Understanding of principles and processes for providing personalized services, including needs assessment, quality standards, delivery systems, and guest satisfaction evaluation.
- Ability to work positively and cooperatively within a diverse team to meet established timeframes.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with department heads, coworkers, and crew to resolve issues and negotiate solutions.
- Aptitude for managing the financial aspects of housekeeping, including cost control and expense reduction.
- Experience in managing headcount to support vessel operations.
- Knowledge of talent assessment, quality standards, guest satisfaction, team development, leadership, and coaching skills.
- Familiarity with human resources policies and practices.
- Proficiency with computers and software such as Excel, Word, and specialized programs like Issu Trax, OCIMS, Fidelio, LGA, Berthing Manager, Medallia, Kronos, and the Celebrity App.
- Understanding of budgeting, cost containment, inventory management, and planning.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS :
- Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with guests.
- Ability to read and write in English to understand procedures and communicate effectively in written and verbal forms.
- Additional languages such as Spanish, French, or German are preferred.
