Director of Product - Systems
Director of Product – Platform Architecture & Systems
Indie Campers is a leading global road‑trip platform with a growing international footprint and multi‑site operations (HQ Lisbon, Mexico City, Manila, Sydney) and 80+ depots. Our mission is to be the world’s #1 road trip platform, delivering flexible travel at scale through a modern digital product and robust operational backbone.
Role Overview
As Product Director – Systems, you will support the CTO in building and scaling the core systems that power Indie Campers’ global operations. You will lead a team of product managers and product‑technology leaders across domains such as ERP/Finance, Inventory & Fleet, Pricing & Revenue, Bookings & Payments, Identity & Access, and Partner/Marketplace Integrations. You are a product executive with deep systems thinking and a track record co‑leading with engineering to take platforms from 0→1 and 1→100 in complex, multi‑country environments.
Responsibilities
- Own the systems product strategy and roadmap, aligned with company objectives and a multi‑year platform vision.
- Lead and develop a product technology team (PMs, Product Ops, Analyst/BA profiles) working closely with Engineering, Corporate IT/CISO, Data & AI, and Finance/Operations.
- Drive the ERP program (selection, scoping, integrations, data migration, roles/permissions) in lockstep with Corporate IT & Finance.
- Define domain boundaries, data contracts, SLAs, and APIs across core platforms (pricing, availability, inventory/fleet lifecycle, billing, tax, payments, marketplaces).
- Establish robust portfolio governance (OKRs/QBRs), dependency management, and change‑management playbooks (cutovers, hypercare, rollbacks).
- Champion reliability, observability, and cost efficiency (SLOs/SLIs, incident/post‑mortem culture, unit economics).
- Partner with Head of Data & AI to deliver a governed metrics/semantic layer, ensuring trusted KPIs and event streams.
- Ensure security‑by‑design in coordination with CISO (identity, least privilege, audit trails) and compliance (GDPR, PCI where applicable).
- Communicate strategy, trade‑offs, and ROI to executive stakeholders; simplify complexity for speed and scale.
Experience Required
- Proven product leadership owning core enterprise/system domains in a global, multi‑site business (vs. pure Saa
S), ideally including ERP + finance ops, inventory/logistics, or payments/tax. - Experience co‑leading with engineering on architecture modernization (modular monoliths/microservices), API platforms, and data contracts.
- Delivery of large cross‑functional programs (ERP, billing, partner integrations) with measurable outcomes on reliability, cost, and time‑to‑market.
- Strong command of portfolio execution (OKRs, QBRs, roadmapping, risk/RAID) and change management at scale.
- Analytical, systems thinker; comfortable with SLAs/SLOs, cost models, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder management; operates with owner mindset and high bar for precision and excellence.
