EIB Trainee - Inspectorate General Directorate - Evaluation Division - based in Luxembourg

Position duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March 2026). Possible extension up to 6 months if required by University.
Eligibility: Only applicants who are nationals of EU Member States or candidate states (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine) are considered.
Candidates in Erasmus+ programme overlapping with duration of traineeship will not be considered. Applicants should limit submissions to a maximum of three traineeship publications; only the first three applications will be retained.
Objective of the traineeship
The trainee will support the Evaluation Division in the Inspectorate General (IG/EV) of the EIB in carrying out desk‑research and other evaluative activities for ongoing and upcoming evaluations in 2026. Tasks may include delivering background research papers (e. g. evaluations of EIB support for health infrastructure, Global Gateway strategy, EU municipalities, Transport Lending Policy, EIF microfinance activity) and contributing to portfolio reviews, data collection via surveys or interviews, and other related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Prepare policy and literature reviews on themes targeted by IG/EV’s upcoming evaluations or studies.
- Contribute to other components of a thematic evaluation or study (e. g. , portfolio review, data collection via surveys or interviews, data analysis).
- Support the logistics of evaluation processes (e. g. , organisation of interaction with stakeholders, data collection and analysis).
- Support IG/EV’s outreach activities (including knowledge sharing and gathering, both within and outside the EIB).
Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills
- Final year of studies or University degree in Economics, Finance, Social Sciences, Political Sciences or Engineering.
- Familiarity with evaluation (e. g. , specialised courses in evaluation) would be an advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools.
- Experience with a variety of Social Science research methods would be an advantage.
- Facility in drafting clear and concise texts in English would be a distinct advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
