This position is based at our EIB Local office in Rome, Italy and requires regular office presence. Working in a truly international and multi‑cultural environment.

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2026)

Eligibility: Only applications from nationals of EU Member States and citizens of candidate countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine) will be considered. Candidates with Erasmus+ programmes overlapping the traineeship will not be considered.

Application limit: Limit applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will consider only the first three applications submitted.

Objective of the traineeship: The traineeship focuses on supporting the development and implementation of loan projects in Italy and Malta, particularly in public services, water, energy, transport and infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Support financial and risk analysis of borrowers to assess creditworthiness and viability of projects.


• Assist in preparing and updating marketing materials used for client meetings and public events.


• Conduct research on topics relevant to division activities, providing insights for strategic decisions.


• Enhance and maintain datasets related to clients and sectors, improving understanding of market trends and opportunities.

Academic Qualifications and Professional Skills:

• Final year of studies or University degree preferably in Business Administration or Finance.


• First existing work experience in financial analysis considered an advantage.


• Strong analytical skills, especially financial and risk assessment.


• Familiarity with data research and management tools.


• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and Power
  Point.


• Excellent written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of Italian an advantage.
