EIB Trainee – Operations Directorate – Advisory Mandate Management Unit – Luxembourg

Duration

5 months (fixed start date: 1 April 2026) – possible extension up to 6 months if required by University.

Eligibility

Only applications from nationals of the Member States of the European Union, as well as citizens from countries that have been officially granted candidate status to join the EU (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine) will be considered. Candidates whose Erasmus+ programme overlaps with the duration of the traineeship will not be considered. Applicants may submit up to three traineeship publications; only the first three submissions will be retained.

Objective of the Traineeship

The traineeship provides exposure to EIB Advisory and its contribution to building operational pipeline for EIB Group lending and EU programmes such as Invest
EU, LIFE or Horizon. The Division is at the core of Advisory Mandate Management, managing financial and information flows between the EIB and the European Commission. You will help manage and summarise data flows (both quantitative and qualitative) and gain insight into how Advisory activities facilitate policy‑driven investment.

Responsibilities

You will contribute to the sourcing, quality assurance and summary of data for financial monitoring and operational reporting purposes. Data sourcing will rely on pre‑existing queries of EIB systems, notably the in‑house ASApp advisory and SERAPIS lending platforms, including preparation of submissions to the European Commission's Management Information System. Apart from analytical work performed in Microsoft Excel and, ideally, Power BI, you will also prepare and finalise presentations, working closely with colleagues in the Advisory Mandate Management unit. Candidates with technical skills in Power BI or AI can help contribute to business transformation via automation.

Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills

• Final year of studies or University degree in analytical fields such as economics, finance, engineering, computer science, or related fields.
• Concrete abilities in coding and data processing using tools such as Power Query, Power BI and co‑pilot.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Power
  Point) and familiarity with Power BI and AI applications.
• Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of another EU language is an advantage.
