EIB Trainee – Operations Directorate – Deep Tech, Digital & Life Sciences Division – Based in Luxembourg
Join the European Investment Bank (EIB) as a trainee in the Operations Directorate (OPS), Equity, Growth Capital and Project Finance Department (EGPF), Deep Tech, Digital & Life Sciences Division (2‑DTLS) – Co‑Investments Unit (CO‑INVEST). The role is based at the EIB headquarters in Luxembourg and requires regular office presence.
Duration & Eligibility
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March 2026). Possible extension up to 6 months if required by University.
Eligibility: Only applicants who are nationals of an EU Member State or of a recognized candidate country (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine). Applicants with overlapping Erasmus+ programmes and those who apply more than three times will not be considered.
Application deadline: 18 November 2025.
Objective
Support investment officers in identifying, screening, analysing and approving co‑investments in start‑ups, growth companies and infrastructure projects. Assist in portfolio management and monitoring of the co‑investment portfolio. Upon completion, the trainee should be able to identify key financial and business metrics used in growth capital and infrastructure investments, understand financial models and compile and present portfolio information.
Responsibilities
- Review and summarise co‑investment proposals.
- Screen markets using financial and industry databases.
- Review financial models.
- Prepare marketing materials.
- Prepare industry peer analysis and compile relevant analysis for the approval process.
- Prepare ad‑hoc portfolio reports and analysis as part of the monitoring activity.
Additional tasks may be assigned during the assignment.
Academic Qualifications & Professional Skills
- Final year of studies or University Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Studies or a related subject.
- First experience in finance or investment related fields considered an advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Power
Point). - Excellent command of written and oral English. Knowledge of any other EU language is an advantage.
