EIB Trainee - Operations Directorate - Western Europe Division - based in Luxembourg
This position is based at the Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence. The EIB offers you the opportunity to live and work in a truly international and multi‑cultural environment.
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March 2026). Possible extension up to 6 months if required by the university.
Eligibility: Only applicants who are nationals of the Member States of the European Union, as well as citizens from candidate countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine) will be considered. Candidates whose Erasmus+ programme overlaps with the duration of the traineeship will not be considered. Please limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications; only the first three applications will be considered.
Objective of the traineeship
Under the supervision of the Head of Unit, you will work in collaboration with loan officers who are accountable for carrying out EIB lending operations in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Ireland.
Responsibilities
- Financial analysis, including CRAFT, projections and preparation of scorings/ratings.
- Drafting relevant documents, including CAT.
- Support the loan officers in the preparation of Gn
G, AFS and MC notes. - First disbursement and handover notes.
- Support integrity checks and KYC activities.
- Market screening and brief analysis.
- Preparation of presentations (Power
Point) and statistics (undisbursed stock, pricing approach for specific sectors).
Academic Qualifications and Professional Skills
- Final year of studies or university degree in Economics, Business or Finance.
- First experience/internship in the banking or audit sector is an advantage.
- Strong numerical and interpersonal skills.
- Good to advanced knowledge of MS Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Excellent written and spoken English and French. Knowledge of another EU language is an advantage.
