EIB Trainee – Portfolio Management & Monitoring Directorate – Counterparty Management/KYC Centre of Expertise Division – Luxembourg
Apply for the EIB Trainee role at the European Investment Bank (EIB). The position is based at our Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence in a multicultural environment.
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March 2026) with a possible extension up to 6 months if required by the university. Only applicants who are nationals of EU Member States or of officially recognised candidate countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine) will be considered. Applicants in an Erasmus+ programme overlapping the traineeship duration are not eligible. Applications are limited to a maximum of three per candidate; only the first three applications will be retained.
Objectives: The Counterparty Management/KYC Centre of Expertise (KYC) division is part of the Joint Middle Office (JMO) department and is a key component of the EIB’s first line of defence. The traineeship focuses on:
- Verification and ongoing monitoring of clients (and their related parties) at onboarding, following a risk‑based approach.
- Ensuring timely and flawless execution of ML‑FT risk assessment of EIB counterparties.
- Assisting in the continuous project of verifying and enhancing KYC data, contributing to the maintenance of high‑quality client records.
Responsibilities: Conduct quality checks of client data and, where needed, enhance data. Under the supervision of a senior KYC analyst, tasks include data searches, report input and updates.
Academic qualifications and professional skills:
- Final year of studies or university degree, preferably in Legal, Business Administration or similar disciplines.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Word & Excel.
- Previous exposure to data‑quality checks is an advantage.
- Excellent written and spoken English. Knowledge of another EU language is an advantage.
