EIB Trainee – Projects Directorate – Energy Advisory & Energy Efficiency Division – Luxembourg

The EIB – the European Union's bank – is recruiting a trainee for its Projects Directorate (PJ), Energy & Environment Department (E2D), Energy Advisory & Energy Efficiency Division (ENAD) at its Luxembourg headquarters. The position is based in our headquarters and requires regular office presence, offering you an opportunity to work in a truly international and multi‑cultural environment.

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1 March/April 2026). Possible extension up to 6 months if required by University.

Eligibility: Applications are only considered from nationals of the EU Member States and from citizens of countries that have been officially granted candidate status to join the EU (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine). Candidates whose Erasmus+ programme overlaps with the duration of the traineeship will not be considered. Applications are limited to a maximum of three postings; only the first three submitted will be retained.

Responsibilities:

• Analyse current processes and identify opportunities for AI and IT‑driven automation.
• Develop and implement solutions for automated monitoring and reporting.
• Collaborate with colleagues to structure data and reporting templates.
• Support the division in the automated preparation of documentation and presentations.

Academic Qualifications and Professional Skills:

• Final year of studies or a university degree (preferably Master’s) in Data Science, Information Management, Statistics, Computer Science, Environmental/Social Sciences, Engineering, or Business with relevant modules.
• Demonstrated interest in sustainable finance, ESG, or public procurement.
• Experience with AI‑assisted analysis tools.
• Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and visual narratives.
• Proven ability to collect, clean, and analyse datasets using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or Python.
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
