The Opportunity – Energy System Research Engineer (Full-time, hybrid)
We are seeking motivated engineers to join our team and contribute to the energy transition through
- edge research and development. You will work in a dynamic and international environment, supporting projects across a wide spectrum of technical and economic topics, including:
- Smart grids, renewable energy integration, storage, and electric vehicles
- Energy system flexibility, reliability, and cybersecurity
- Network planning and system operation
- Artificial intelligence and Io

Key Responsibilities
As a Research Engineer, your role may include:
- Participating in and managing R&D and innovation projects
- Developing simulations, algorithms, models, and technical documentation
- Reviewing deliverables and providing technical guidance
- Contributing to national and European R&D proposals
- Writing scientific papers and presenting research results
- Liaising with project partners, clients, and stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
- Master’s degree or higher in Engineering (Electrical, Energy, or related field)
- Final academic grade of at least 14/20
- Strong programming skills (e. g. , Python, C/C#/Java)
- Fluent English (C1 level minimum)
- Solid analytical capabilities and technical rigor.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Candidates should bring expertise in at least one of the following areas:
- Technical background on power system analysis (steady state analysis, transient stability, short circuit calculation)
- Familiar with power systems simulation software, such as Matlab SPS/Simulink and PSS/E, including electromechanical and electromagnetic transient simulation
- Experience in the application of optimisation methods to power system planning, operation, analysis and simulation
- Knowledge or exposure to EU regulation concerning planning and operational standards
- Good understanding of electricity markets and energy regulation
- Knowledge or exposure to flexibility solutions for energy systems and Distributed Energy Resources
- Ability to develop models, plans and procedures for real time power system simulation and testing, including but not limited to

- loop testing of protection and control systems - Design of business and technical process flows using the
- case and Smart Grid architecture models - Knowledge of other energy systems besides electricity systems, namely gas, hydrogen or heating and cooling
- Knowledge of data science and decision systems
- Communications networks and protocols.
