We are hiring an Engineering Manager for IAM to develop
- performing Go and Python services for secure identity and access management solutions across all products, including Ubuntu One SSO, Juju, LXD, and MAAS. This role offers an opportunity for a software engineering manager passionate about distributed systems operations to influence the future of identity management at Canonical.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a team developing IAM solutions using Go and Python
• Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable distributed systems
• Collaborate with upstream open source projects and internal teams
• Define technical vision, manage backlog, review code, and mentor team members
• Contribute to all phases of software development: design, coding, testing, documentation, troubleshooting
• Work with
  - leading data stores and observability stacks
• Participate in open source communities, events, webinars, and conferences

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading
  - performance software engineering teams
• Experience with Go and Python development
• Ability to design and implement complex distributed systems
• Experience with container technology and Kubernetes
• Strong understanding of security and performance in software/infrastructure
• Knowledge of IAM technologies and standards is a plus
• Excellent academic record and technical education
• Professional English communication skills
• Interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, accountability
• Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks

Location

This role is remote, based in the EMEA or AMER regions.
