About Your Team: Sensei’s dynamic Platform team is a dedicated team building and maintaining
- performance, reliable systems that empower our innovative retail solutions. The team’s core mission is to drive platform stability, scalability, and security, ensuring seamless operations across both
- premises and cloud environments. Working closely with engineering, support, and deployment teams, we foster a collaborative environment to support Sensei’s
- edge retail technologies.
How Can You Help? We’re building and scaling critical infrastructure that powers our entire company, and we need a leader to drive it forward. As the Engineering Manager for our Platform Team, you’ll guide the development, reliability, and evolution of our systems, ensuring our practices are not only robust but
- thinking.
Your mission is to lead a
- performing team in delivering scalable infrastructure, reliable systems, and a seamless developer experience, while staying aligned with broader business goals.
Daily At Sensei, You Will
- Lead team ceremonies, foster focus, and ensure effective delivery on the platform roadmap.
- Drive hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and career development within the team.
- Maintain visibility into ongoing technical work and step in when needed (e. g. , during vacations or incidents).
- Collaborate closely with engineering,
- security, and deployment teams to improve platform usability and developer experience. - Partner with Engineering Tech Leads to align on architecture, implementation, and team direction.
- Own cloud infrastructure governance, cost optimization, and security compliance.
- Track team outcomes (velocity, reliability, incident response, platform adoption, etc. ) and communicate impact to stakeholders.
- Champion a culture of ownership, learning, and operational excellence.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams, ideally in platform or infrastructure domains.
- A
- first mindset with strong coaching, communication, and organizational skills. - Experience guiding
- functional technical efforts, setting priorities, and ensuring delivery. - Confidence in participating in
- level technical discussions, even if not coding daily. - Solid understanding of Dev
Ops/SRE practices (CI/CD, observability, cloud architecture). - A proactive, structured approach to
- making and
- solving. - Ability to balance delivery, technical quality, and team
- being in a
- paced environment. - Background in incident management, stakeholder alignment, or Fin
Ops (is a great plus).
- The Platform Team has strong direction, high ownership, and growing confidence.
- Delivery is reliable and predictable, with positive collaboration across teams.
- Platform initiatives are clearly prioritized, tracked, and communicated.
- You’ve helped shape a roadmap that balances innovation with
- term stability. - You’ve earned trust from both technical and
- technical stakeholders. - Your team has clarity on growth opportunities and is receiving regular, constructive feedback.
- You’ve demonstrated technical awareness and leadership by stepping in when needed.
