Improve International was established in 1998 by a group of veterinary surgeons from across the UK. We run Continuous Professional Development training from veterinary professionals to help develop the skills and knowledge required in practice.
Our programmes utilise a combination of review lectures,
- based discussion and, where applicable,
- on practical sessions. Within Improve we also have the function of ‘The International School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies (ISVPS)’. This function is dedicated to providing veterinary surgeons, nurses and technicians with high quality, achievable qualifications that are recognised internationally. We are an international organisation with offices in the UK and Portugal.
Reporting to the AP Coordinator, you will be part of the team responsible for accounting and financial control across the group. The focus of this role will be the monthly closing of individual accounts to deliver accurate information to the management team and managing a book of creditors’ accounts to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices, negotiating payment plans and maintaining accurate financial records.
This role is crucial for Improve as we build a finance team that is fit to provide the support the business needs over the coming years. The successful applicant will both be technically strong but also a dynamic problem solver who wants to be part of a high performing team.
- Process incoming invoices, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Posting daily transactions
- Match invoices with purchase orders and receipts to verify the validity of charges
- Track and preparing bank reconciliations
- Process and verify expense reports and reimbursement requests
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
- Calculating amortizations
- Monthly tax reconciliations
- Assist in the preparation of tax returns and compliance with local tax regulations
- Manage and maintain financial records, ensuring proper documentation and organization
- Conduct regular financial analysis to identify discrepancies or trends
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to accounts payable
- Academic background in Accounting
- Experience in a similar role at least 3 years, having accounting office knowledge is advantageous
- Proficient in finance systems
- Fluent written and verbal English (mandatory)
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to work under pressure and to agreed deadlines
- High attention to detail and experience working in fast paced dynamic environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Annual Leave Entitlement:23 days plus public holidays, an additional service day after 3 year and again at 10 years to a total of 25 days
Office Closure:Additional leave on the afternoon of the 24th and the 31st December
Weekly Hours: 40
