Working in the Finance Team

The Finance Team is responsible for establishing systems and processes to ensure the business remains financially sustainable and legally compliant.

Key objectives focus on continuous improvement to add value as we prepare for growth, including funding, people, systems, technology, outputs, and engagement.

What will you be doing?

This is an exciting time to join Open Cosmos as we pursue substantial growth through 2025 and beyond. The Finance Manager in Porto, Portugal, reports to the CFO and manages the Finance Assistant in Porto to support local finance operations for the Open Cosmos Group.

This is a
- on operational role within a lean,
- driven finance team. The role demands accuracy, timely delivery, communication, and enthusiasm.

You will collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization, including the CFO, finance team, outsourced advisors, accountants, auditors, payroll bureau, procurement, mission managers, suppliers, customers, HR, executive team, department heads, board, investors, and staff for ad hoc queries.

What you need to be successful:

• Proven experience as a finance manager or similar role within a small team
• Strong IT skills, including Net
  Suite, Xero, tracking categories, and integrated apps
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver
• Deep knowledge of IFRS, including revenue recognition,
  - term contracts, and capitalizations
• Practical understanding of grant management, IVA, corporation tax, and payroll compliance in Portugal
• Chartered Accountant qualification is a plus, demonstrating technical expertise
• Strong work ethic and alignment with Open Cosmos values
• Adaptability to new challenges and eagerness to learn new skills
• Experience working in innovative startups, paperless environments, and international groups dealing with multiple currencies and local taxation
