The Opportunity:
An ambitious and
- growing Private Equity-backed consumer services business, headquartered in Lisbon, is seeking a
- calibre Financial Controller to join its leadership team. With annual revenues of €60 million and €20 million EBITDA, the business operates in a
- asset model and continues to scale both organically and through strategic acquisitions.
Now part of a larger international group generating £1 billion in turnover and £350 million EBITDA, the company is preparing for a future exit event with strong backing from a leading Private Equity fund. This is a pivotal finance leadership role at the heart of that journey.
The Role:
Reporting directly to an experienced Private Equity CFO, with a dotted line to the Regional CEO, the Financial Controller will oversee all aspects of financial control, reporting, and compliance for the business. The role offers high visibility across the group, working closely with international stakeholders across finance, operations, marketing, technology, and services.
This individual will lead and develop a team of 7 finance professionals, with responsibility for financial governance, reporting, controls, and integration of new acquisitions. They will also support FP&A and commercial finance on strategic growth initiatives and transformation projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the finance team, overseeing all aspects of financial control and reporting
- Ensure robust financial governance, compliance, and internal controls across all operations
- Manage
- end, statutory reporting, audit processes, and tax compliance - Oversee transactional finance, including AP, AR, and cash management
- Support systems upgrades and process optimisation across finance
- Partner with FP&A to provide commercial insights and support key growth initiatives
- Lead integration of newly acquired businesses into the group structure
- Build strong relationships with group finance and other international stakeholders
The Requirements:
This role is suited to a technically strong, commercially aware finance leader with excellent interpersonal skills and a track record of success in a Private Equity, international, or
- driven environment.
Key Requirements:
- Strong academic background with a
- tier university degree - Qualified accountant (e. g. , ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent)
- Background in Audit, Consulting, or Big 4 highly desirable
- Experience working in international or
- entity environments - Excellent understanding of accounting, compliance, and internal controls
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to develop and motivate teams
- Comfortable overseeing both transactional finance and
- level strategic projects - Experience supporting systems upgrades or finance transformation initiatives
- Fluent in English (Portuguese beneficial but not essential)
