Having sold over 20 million unique objects to date, they are on a mission to become the world’s most popular destination for special objects. As a growing, diverse and sustainable scale‑up, they proudly live by our core values:
Values
- Taking ownership and driving impact
- Being open to change and feedback
- Being passionate about our mission and our customers.
If these values resonate with you, they would love to explore how you can join us on this exciting journey!
How they work
As the biggest marketplace for special items, they operate in a domain that brings plenty of unusual challenges and opportunities. You will be developing, testing, and scaling our microservices, mostly written in Ruby, to handle the high volume of requests served by the platform every single day. They do this by using Infrastructure as Code principles, collaborative peer reviews, Continuous Delivery, A/B testing every assumption and using the observability and monitoring tools already in place. They make mistakes and learn valuable lessons from them. Their focus is to be able to recover and iterate quickly.
What you’ll do
You will make an impact by improving and delivering product innovations for their platform. Along with other Engineering team members, you will build beautiful and adaptable web front‑ends on top of scalable microservices. Most of these serve our sellers and buyers, and some are geared towards our own customer services and internal operations teams.
You make sure that your web components will work well and be responsive to: desktop, tablet, and mobile screens. And by measuring and monitoring system performance, you optimise the performance of your products.
In addition, you will use A/B experiments, agreed upon with your Product Manager and User Experience Designer, and backed by data analysis, to add product features and deliver the best user experience on the platform.
Their Offices and Way of Working
Their vibrant offices in Amsterdam, Paris and Lisbon are designed to inspire and connect. They are within commuting distance of one of our offices and enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work model. This means that you will be in the office 2 out of 5 days (40% of your working time) to collaborate and connect with your colleagues. That said, some roles may be an exception: if the job description states that the position is fully remote or 100% office‑based, that arrangement will apply instead.
What you’ll bring
You are a Front‑end Engineer with extensive front‑end experience in multiple technologies, and with an impressive portfolio of past front‑end deliveries, and you are eager to expand your knowledge and your impact, and to take the next step in your career. As a Senior engineer, you are effective in lifting the level of your team, and you love to cooperate with front‑end engineers of other teams.
